Need a blank wall solution? How about wallpaper? I’m so excited about this dramatic heron mural I just put up in my living room! I’ve painted this wall black, then back to white, but it always felt a bit bland. Well not any more.

I’m apparently addicted to wallpaper. This is my sixth or seventh time wallpapering and peel and stick is definitely the easiest. It gives so much life to a room, I can’t stop!

I’ll show you how I put it up. And you can see my 40-second TikTok at the end.

I was gifted this Ponderosa heron mural by Wall Blush. You can use code housemixblog15 for a discount.

1.Simply peel the top, stick in place and peel off the backing as you go, smoothing out all the bubbles. 

2. Use a level to make sure each piece will line up correctly. This part is really important. Especially on the first piece.

3. If you didn’t place it right the first time, no problem, just pull it up and reapply. Then cut excess off with a utility knife. 

TIP: This paper overlaps by about half an inch, so I found it helpful to mark the half inch with a pencil and ruler before I applied

Textured walls

This paper is not recommended for textured walls as it is meant to be removable. But I did it. I see why they don’t recommend it because it really is meant to be easily removed. I cheated and painted on a thin layer of wallpaper paste in a couple spots that I had peeled it off and put back on a few time as I tried to line up the pattern. I haven’t had a problem since.

Renters

This paper is removable and damage-free to walls, so it is definitely renter-friendly!

Installation time

I finished the whole thing in 2-3 hours and it’s 8×12 foot.
