Like the rest of our house, the playroom was a blank, white space in need of a little life. I found this beautiful palm jungle mural ($85) and had to have it! It mimics the landscaping outside the window in our yard and I love the sage, gray and coral tones. Then as it usually happens, one thing leads to another and curtains and paint and moulding!

I played around in Photoshop, making the wall gray or green or even coral, but sage was by far my favorite. This is Benjamin Moore Sage Wisdom. It’s cozy and romantic. I decided to paint the alcove above the window, all the walls (except the movie projector wall) and moulding as well!
You can see how the play room looked before in this tour post. It was fine for the time being, but now with the sage paint and wallpapered mural, this room can be for any age group!
And by the way, this room sees A LOT of kids. We have about 30 kids in our “small” group!
So I had to resist my urge to add a bamboo coffee table, lamps or anything purely decorative. This room works best as a wide open space for the kids to run around and make up games.

My friends on Instagram helped me decide that matching sage curtains were necessary and I found such a deal on blackout curtain sets on Amazon ($33)! I got lucky and they match almost perfectly!

The mural is 12 foot long, so I was able to use half on each side of the window with only a small amount of extra space. To cover the spaces on the ends, I used baseboard painted sage. It looks so much more expensive too! It looks framed, kind of like how I framed a mural in Clara’s room.
I’ll stop rambling and give you a little tour. You can see the videos of how I did it at the end.

Luca and I had fun collaborating on a little mural on the chalkboard wall! I painted this wall and the little wall with the books with a $10 can of chalkboard paint. It’s so fun!
The wooden book racks are actually $5 spice racks from Ikea.

I found this sweet macramé banner for $16. I put two together.

I left this wall white because we watch movies from the projector on it! I originally bought it because it was cheaper than paying for all of us to go to the movie theater! And now we seriously use it all the time.
This is the same projector I have ($70) but the newer model.
You can see our set up and my review of it in this post.

I love this rug. It could actually go anywhere in my house. It’s thick, doesn’t shed and is only $140 for an 8×10. It’s available on Amazon and Rugs USA. They prices vary at different times, so check both.

See everything in fast forward below!

And here’s what the playroom usually looks like! Why do we even have shelves? They must be slippery.

Goodness Kate! You never cease to amaze me, the Benjamin Moore colors are very beautiful I have seen them before, alas, we don’t get that brand here! The room is gorgeous, what a make-over!! You have that special touch and you love what you do. Everything blends and compliments each other in that play room, and the books shelves/racks, great idea. It is also a calming color giving a special touch to the room. I am sure you will enjoy the works of your hands for a long time. The children are lovely and growing nicely. I will visit your Pinterest Blog for sure, there is much to see and enjoy. God bless, do take care and be alert. Much love to you.
Thanks so much, Elize! You’re always so kind to me. It’s amazing how we met here talking about Brillo pads! haha! The playroom took a lot of thought for my poor little brain! It was so white and boring, I’m so happy to have found a pretty color and wallpaper solution :) I can’t imagine I would ever take it down … but you never know!
